Howdy: The Colorado Aloha?

2 min read

First of all, I don't even know if that's accurate. I've only been here a few weeks, but I've already been greeted with several "howdys" and a quiet kindness, which is super helpful when you're the new kid in town.

Immediately, Yoga.

Confession: I didn't even pack my yoga mat (a.k.a, my security blanket). Without it I'm forced to explore and get to know my new home. This is challenging, but also pretty fun.

  • Meditation: So far I've been enjoying the front porch, taking in the sounds, noticing what I see, what I feel. I've learned that the neighbor dog, Luna, will immediately bark if something is new but then stops once she knows it's not a threat. Kind of like a car alarm that went off for no good reason. She's great.

  • Mindfulness: This one is just about noticing and slowing down. Learning my neighborhood and beyond, paying attention to traffic patterns, not rushing through the grocery store, remembering new faces (and sometimes names), walking to the farmers market instead of driving, and appreciating the heck out of the mountain views.

  • Movement: I'm sore from literally everything, so I've been starting a little bed yoga in the evening to help me wind down. This 10-minute practice from Yoga with Adriene has been on repeat:

When Will I Teach?

Since we are now the proud owners of a 135-year old home, I'm in no rush to scout teaching opportunities just yet. In a perfect world, they'll just present themselves when the time is right. For now, I'd love to record some new classes to share with you all, and maybe an occasional live class! I know it's not the same, because you are all here because of yoga AND community. For that, I am so grateful.

Stay tuned, slow down and enjoy the dog days of Summer.

Jen
